He was a former member of St. Teresa's RC Church and also a member of the Church of The Resurrection in Lakeland, FL.
Mr. Karl was very active in bringing two important organizations into the Akron area. He was a charter member of the Akron Jaycees and past President in the early sixties. He also founded and was President of the Akron Little League Football in the mid sixties creating Akron Sports, Inc. The organization was part of the OATKA Junior Football Conference. He spent many hours researching, holding meetings and setting this organization into motion. He enjoyed overseeing the creation of teams as well as coaching with several of his sports-minded friends. The organization brought many childhood memories to area boys and their families. His wife Lois assisted with the formation of the Little League Cheerleaders, also bringing fond memories for area girls.
Mr. Karl was a successful Sales Manager in the carpet industry for many years, which allowed him and his wife the opportunity to travel to many beautiful places.
Among his other accomplishments, Mr. Karl bought and restored a Century House on East Ave. in Akron in the early sixties and turned an "old house" into a beautiful home for his large family. He spent many hours doing carpentry and landscaping work to restore the home.
Among his other interests, the "Captain" enjoyed sailing with the family and friends on different area lakes. He leaves us with many happy and fun memories, some of which are journalized in his "Captain's Log".
