Mr. Ludwick served in theAge 89 Place of Birth: Ellicottville, New York Place of Passing: Palm Beach County, Florida Resided in: Palm Beach County, FloridaHistory: Mr. Ludwick was a graduate of Ellicottville High School and graduated summa cum-laude from the Cincinnati College of Embalming. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served as a Radio Gunner in the European Theatre during WWII. Returning from war, Bob lived in Birmingham, AL and worked as a Licensed Funeral Director. When he moved back to NY, Bob founded the Ludwick Funeral Home in Clarence Center in 1963 and owned it until 1989 when he retired. He was known for mentoring colleagues and was often overheard refusing compensation, saying that he could not charge for sharing the gifts and talents that God gave him.
Named 1981 Citizen of the Year by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce, Bob was active in many professional and civic organizations throughout his life. They include, but are not limited to; Clarence American Legion - Post 838, Past Noble Grand of the Independent Order of Foresters, Past President of the Clarence Historical Society, Clarence Chamber of Commerce and was Past Commander of J. Michael Hens Post 7870, VFW. Bob was also a past member of the Sumerset Masonic Lodge, the Buffalo Consistory and the Ismailia Temple. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarence, Bob served as a deacon, trustee, elder, and a Stephen Minister.Family: Beloved husband of Margaret (Dilmore) and the late Ann Berta (Coleman). Bob and Ann were married just shy of 62 years when she passed away in 2004. Father of three sons; R. David, Jeffrey M. and Scott C. Ludwick, Bob is survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Viewing info: Memorial service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, Sept. 19th at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarence, 9675 Main Street.Burial: Interment at Clarence Center Cemetery.Memorials: Flowers gratefully declined.
