Francis "Nick" Nicholas

Age 70 Place of Birth: Buffalo, New York Place of Passing: Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y. Resided in: Akron, New YorkHistory: He was a graduate of Clarence High School class of 1959, and went on to continue his education at Clarkston College of Technology earning a degree in business in 1963.
Mr. Nicholas served as President and part owner of the family business Excel Industries which was started by his father in a garage on the corner of Main St. and Transit Road in Williamsville. In 1951 the shop was then relocated and expanded to it’s current location on Main St. in Newstead. Nick also was a part owner of the families other business The Links at Ivy Ridge Golf Course in Akron, which is named after their late mother Ivy.
Nick was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Akron. At one time he enjoyed coaching little league sports, was an avid sports enthusiast and a passionate golfer He also enjoyed boating, the New York Yankees and Duke basketball. Nick was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather to his wife, children and being Poppy to his grandchildren and attended their sporting events. Anyone that met Nick understands that with his personality once you met the man you could not help but like him.Family: Son of the late John E. and Ivy (Emery) Nicholas. Loving husband of 48 years to Susan (Goehle) Nicholas, dear father of Todd A. Nicholas, Craig (Maureen) Nicholas and Kathy (John) Chubb, proud and cherished Poppy of Ryan, Kevin, Emma, Megan, Nate and Will, Brother of Donald Nicholas, John Nicholas and Diana Fiske, also surviving are several nieces and nephews, son in law of Robert W. Goehle.Viewing info: A celebration of Nick’s life will take place on Saturday February 4, 2012 at 1PM in the First United Methodist Church, 7 Church St. Akron, N.Y.Burial: Clarence Fillmore Cemetery Clarence, N.Y.Memorials: Flowers are great fully declined.
