Place of Passing: Millard W. Young, 69, of Akron, NY entered into rest June 21, 2009 in Hamot Trauma Center, Erie, PA, following an industrial accident.

History:
  After attending Holland High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1958 - 1961 and continued in the Reserve until 1964. Millard founded Empire Building Diagnostics Inc. in Depew and was involved in a number of other enterprises in upstate New York. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Akron. Millard also was a member of the Akron Masonic Lodge #527 F&AM, the Elks BPOE #1478 Lodge in Lancaster and was very involved with Cradle Beach Camp in Angola. Millard was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his unselfish personality. Millard will be remembered in the community particularly for assisting those facing special challenges and as one responsive to those where another could help make a difference. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Millard was citizen of the year in 1993 and also at one time served on the village board
Family:
  Millard was the son of the late Isburn and Hazel (eddy) Young. He was the loving husband for 46 years to Barbara (Bower) Young of Akron, NY; the dear father of Laura (Michael Iversen) Young of Oak Park, Illinois, Patty (Paul) Young-Szlapak, Mark (Lisa) Young, Christine (Greg) Papke and Mike (Michelle) Young all of Akron, NY; proud Papa of 12 grandchildren; dear brother of Hazel (late John) Kellner of Akron, Ruth (Edwin) Duermyer of Alden, Violet Young of Akron and the late James Young Sr.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Viewing info:
  Family will receive friends Wednesday and thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM in Russell Park in Akron or in case of rain in the Gymnasium in the Akron Central School
