Age 81 Place of Birth: Cork, Ireland Place of Passing: At his residence Resided in: Pembroke, New YorkHistory: He graduated from Christian Brothers in Ireland. Moving to America in 1955, Maurice went to work as an Iron Worker at Local Union #6 in Buffalo and retired after 40 years. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church in Corfu, a lifetime member of the Iron Workers Local Union 6 and belonged to the Gaelic-American Athletic Association in South Buffalo.Family: Maurice was the son of the late Maurice and Mary (McKee) Barrett. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Amelia (Blayone) Barrett; four children Kathleen (Robert) Dinkel of Great Falls, VA, Kevin (Rebecca) Barrett of Holland, OH, Kelly (Albert) Wagner of Clarence, NY and Maura (James) Conti of Pembroke, NY; eight grandchildren- Siobhan, Courtney, Sinead, Caitlin, Bailey, Shaunna, Connor, Caitin and Cooper Maurice; dear brother of Edward (Doris) Barrett, Maura Kearns, Joan Austin and Madge Davis all of England.Viewing info: The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME- 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, where Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 AM and in St. Francis of Assissi RC Church in Corfu, NY at 10 AM.Burial: Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Crittenden, NY.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Irish Northern Aid Committee.
