Mrs. Czaja served in the
Army Medical CorpsAge 87 Place of Birth: Buffalo, NY Place of Passing: Beechwood Nursing Home, Getsville, NY following a lengthy illness. Resided in: Tonawanda, NYHistory: She attended East High School and graduated from Ber Wyn Beauty School, both in Buffalo and then went on to serve in the Army Medical Corps. as a Medical Technician during World War II in Thayer General Hospital, TN. Mrs. Czaja was employed at Scott Aviation as an Elastomer Compounder, retiring after many years on service. She was a member of St. Florian RC Church in Buffalo, the Tonawanda Senior Citizens and the American Legion- Adam Plewacki Post# 799 in Buffalo for over 40 years. She was also a volunteer at Kenmore Mercy Hospital where she acquired many friends while attending the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center. In her free time, Mrs. Czaja enjoyed doing ceramics.Family: She was the daughter of the late Josefh and Mary (Purl) Orszulak. Survivors include a son Charles (Joyce) Carter of Akron, NY and a daughter Christine (late Ronald) Giordano of Danbury, CT; grandmother of Brian Carter and Catherine (Dave Pace) Carter; sister in-law of Mildred Orszulak of Buffalo, NY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Czaja, six brothers and one sister.Viewing info: Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 noon in the Childs Funeral Home, 10 Eckerson Ave, Akron. Father David Bealkowski will officiate. Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the funeral home.Burial: Interment will be in the St. Stanislaus RC Cemetery in Cheektowaga.Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2805 Wherle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
