Mark Lee Grefrath

Mr. Grefrath served in theAge 59 Place of Birth: Batavia, NY Place of Passing: At his residence surrounded by loved ones. Resided in: Clarence Center, NYHistory: He graduated from Batavia High School, class of 1967 and went on to attend NorthWestern Michigan College. In 1969 Mark was called to duty, serving in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. While in the Air Force, Mark started what would turn into his extensive and successful 35 year career as an Air Traffic Controller. He went on to work at airports in Flint and Pontiac, MI, the Niagara Falls Airport and finally the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport in Buffalo, where he would eventually retire. Mark was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clarence Center, where he serves as a Preaching Deacon, Confirmation Leader, Bible Study Leader and he also organized art lessons at the church as well. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed flying RC aircrafts, woodworking, painting and cars.Family: Mark was the son of the late Donald and Mary (Hume) Grefrath. Mark is survived by his loving wife Marla (Henning) Grefrath; his dear children Jayce Grefrath of Henrietta,NY and Molly and Mary Grefrath of Clarence Center, NY; three brothers Gary (Sharon) of Charlotte, NC, Gene (Martha) of Las Vegas, NV and Paul (Jean) Grefrath of Elba, NY and one sister Nancy (Ron) Bender of San Diego, CA; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Viewing info: The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron. A celebration of his life will be held Monday at 1:00 PM in the Zion Lutheran Church, 9535 Clarence Center Road, Clarence Center, NY 14032. Reverend Randy Milleville, Pastor will officiate.Burial: Burial will take place privately.Memorials: Flowers are gratefully declined. Expressions of Sympathy in Mark's memory made to HOSPICE Buffalo, 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, NY 14227 or to the Zion Lutheran Church, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
