Mr. Swader served in theAge 87 Place of Birth: Akron, NY Place of Passing: Erie County Home in Alden, NY following a lengthy illness. Resided in: Akron, NYHistory: Louis was a WWII veteran, who served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1942-1946. He was a truck driver for Kendall's Express in Akron for 10 years and then worked for the Erie County Highway Dept., where he retired after 18 years. Mr. Swader was a former Commander of the American Legion Post #900 in Akron, a member of the VFW Post #3180 also in Akron, the Akron Drum & Bugle Corp., a member of the Newstead Senior Citizens and past member of the Newstead Fire Company.Family: He was the son of the late Franklin and Edna Swader. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha (Mueller) Swader of Alden, NY; two sons Richard L. (Cindy) of Akron, NY and Ronald J. (Darlyne) Swader of Batavia, NY; grandfather of Scott (Wendy) Swader, Shelly (Steve) Schleef, Rebecca (Tim) Ruhland, Derek Swader, Steven Laubacker and the late Sean Laubacker; great- grandfather of five; he is predeceased by five siblings Dorothy (Edward) Brown, Harold (Nina) Swader, Walter (Francis) Swader, Evelyn (John) Daly, Joseph (Helen) Swader and Franklin (Carol) Swader; many nieces and nephews also survive.Viewing info: The family will receive friends Friday, January 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, where a funeral service will also be held Saturday at 11AM.Burial: Burial will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in Akron.Memorials: Expressions of sympathy in Louis' memory may be made to the Newstead Fire Company, PO Box 386, Akron, NY 14001.
