Mr. Spears served in theAge 88 Place of Birth: Hartland, NY Place of Passing: Odd Fellows and Rebekah Health Care Facility Lockport following a lengthy illness. Resided in: Akron, NYHistory: A Graduate of Akron High School Class of 1938, Mr. Spears went on to serve in the US Army as a Medic during WWII serving from 1942-1946. Leon retired after 42 years employment in the Maintenance Department for the Georgia Pacific Company in Akron, NY. His memberships include the First Baptist Church of Akron, American Legion Post # 900 Akron, Royal order of the Moose in Medina, NY and in the 1930's and 40's he was a member of the Sandhill Hillbillies Band. Mr. Spears's hobbies included being an avid hunter, fisherman and gardening. He also raised Pheasants and Pure Bred Bassets Hounds.Family: Dear husband of the late : Gertrude (Danser) Spears. Loving father of; Le Anne (James) Siefert of Lockport, NY, Daniel (Ann) Spears of Clarence, NY and Lorene (Francis "Butch") Eldred of Akron, NY. Father in law of the late Stephen Zimmerman. Dear Grandfather of Charles and Jonathan Eldred, Andrew Spears, Christine (Brian) Van Patten, Marie and Jeffrey Siefert and the late Carolyn Zimmerman. Old Papa of Samantha and Elizabeth. Brother of Velma (late Raymond) Roberts of Lockport, NY and the late Ida (Richard) Medole, Spencer (Doris) and Ralph Spears.
