History:
  Born Helen B. Childs March 29, 1924 in the Town of Newstead, Helen was a 1941 graduate of Corfu High School, going on to work at the Curtis Wright Corp. during WWII in the Public Relations Department. She was a life long member of the Pembroke Community Church, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and was a Bible School Teacher. Helen enjoyed, and was very talented in arts and crafts, especially floral arrangements and interior decorating. And thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with her loving family.
Family:
  She was the daughter of the late Laurence and Delia (Brown) Childs. Mrs. Atwell was predeceased by her husband Gordon Atwell in 1998. Step-mother of Roy (Kim) Atwell of Pembroke, NY and Jean (Jeff) Utz of Oakfield, NY; step-grandmother of several grand and great-grandchildren; sister of Dorothy (late Alex) Nowak of Pembroke, NY and Shirley (Roy) Denning of Clarence Center, NY and the late Robert, Wilbur and David Childs; sister in-law of Carol Childs of Batavia, NY and Rosemary Childs of West Falls, NY; aunt of several nieces and nephews and the late Laurence W. Childs.
Viewing info:
  Family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 1:00 - 2:30 PM, with funeral service following in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron. Rev. Lynn Carman-Bodden pastor of the Pembroke Community Church will officiate.
Burial:
  Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu, NY.
