	History:	He was a graduate of Corfu High School, class of 1954, after which he joined the U.S. Army. David worked as a tow motor operator at GTE Sylvania Inc. in Batavia for 27 years and then worked as a security guard for RE Chapin Manufacturing Works Inc. in Batavia for 13 years. At one time, Mr. Childs was a member of the Pembroke Community Church. In his spare time he enjoyed football and gardening.
	Family:	David was the son of the late Laurence and Delia (Brown) Childs and is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Carol (Messina) Childs, who he married in 1966; dear father of Mark and Michael Childs both of Batavia, NY; brother of Helen (late Gordon) Atwell of Batavia, NY, Dorothy (late Alex) Nowak of Corfu, NY, Shirley (Roy) Denning of Clarence Center, NY and the late Robert and Wilbur Childs; several nieces and nephews also survive.
	Viewing info:	There will be a family visitation and private funeral service held on Friday. Arrangements were completed by the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron.
	Burial:	Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia
