History:
Mrs. Bergum was a Teller and a Bookkeeper for M&T Bank in Buffalo for several years. Betty loved to roller skate even roller dance, in fact, that is where she met her darling husband, Peter G. She loved to drive around town in the coolest little sky blue ’68 Mercury Cougar. Betty loved to garden and cook great German dishes, like apple duchies, spaetzles, and potato pancakes. These were just some of her favorites. She loved to create ceramic artwork and make elfish masterpieces for the garden. Betty loved to have her hair styled each week and reminisce with her close friend Walter. She loved Nancy, her sons wife, as her own daughter. Betty loved Saturday night bowling with her husband Pete. With unsuspecting couples and Pete's 260 average, they always won! She loved to share the Bay Cottage with friends, relatives, and teenagers, where they all could find a small piece of heaven right here on earth. She raised her boys to be an accomplished microbiologist, an electrical engineer, and a master of social work. Most importantly there were no lawyers! Betty raised her boys to be caring compassionate men, adventurers and mountain climbers. Whether it was a 14,000 foot rocky summit or the challenge of unraveling a broken teenagers life, she helped them to heal and become whole again. Oh did I mention…she had a great friend in Jesus! Through the caring for her 3 boys and through all the broken bones, bent limbs, cuts, bruises and burns, she came to know and live one of God's greatest loving truths…”A mom's devotion…one of the purest forms of love…is given with no expectation of return.”
