Bertha was a graduate of Akron High School. During WWII she worked at Bell Aero Space as a riveter on the P-40 airplanes. She also worked at the former Buffalo Arms Co. in Akron, Pixley’s Super Market and Rosie’s Roost Restaurant. Bertha was a charter member of the Newstead Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Akron-Newstead Senior Citizens.Family: Dear wife of 62 years to the late Louis Swader, who died January 22, 2008; loving mother of Richard (Cindy) Swader of Akron and Ronald (Darlyne) Swader of Batavia; grandmother of Scott (Wendy) Swader, Shelly (Steve) Schleef, Becky (Tim) Ruhland, Derek Swader, Steven Laubacker and the late Sean Laubacker; great-grandmother of Devin, Amanda, Lauren, Cara Swader and Ryan and Sara Schleef; sister of the late Dorothy Yaeger; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Viewing info: Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, where the family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM.Burial: Burial will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Akron.Memorials: Expressions of sympathy in Bertha’s memory may be made to the Newstead Fire Co.
