Arthur R. "Archie" Betyn

Mr. Betyn served in theAge 81 Place of Birth: Buffalo, NY Place of Passing: Erie County Medical Center Buffalo, New York Resided in: Akron, NYHistory: He was the son of the late Bronislaus and Pearl (Kuczkowski) Betyn. Archie was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He served from 1944-1946 on AS Apollo in the Pacific Theater and received two ribbons for his heroism. Archie was a Crane Operator for the I.N.S. Scrap Processor Company in Tonawanda, retiring after 30 years. Mr. Betyn was a member of Resurrection R.C. Church in Cheektowaga and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Depew. He enjoyed playing cards, was an avid bowler and volunteered at the VA Hospital in Buffalo.Family: Beloved husband of Gloria (Kolbert) Betyn, whom he married Feb. 26, 1949; dear father of Claudia Betyn of Cheektowaga, Diane Goldberg (Carlos Mendez) of Ca, Arthur A. Betyn, Darlene (Charles) Zuccaro, Keith Betyn all of Cheektowaga, Clark Betyn, Rachel (Christopher) Ziarniak both of Akron and the late Gloria A. Betyn; grandfather of 7 grandchildren and the late Rebecca L. Ziarniak; dear brother of Irene Betyn of Belfast and the late Ruth Johnson; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Viewing info: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in St. Teresa’s R.C. Church, 5771 Buell St., Akron. There will be no prior visitation.Burial: Burial will be in St. Teresa’s Cemetery.Memorials: Flowers gratefully declined, expressions of sympathy in Archie’s memory may be made to Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, 219 Bryant St., Buffalo, NY 14222.
