History:
In a corner of the attic on Country Parkway is a box filled with hats. A lifetime of hats, Anna's hats. Wide brimmed hats with silk flowers and ribbons, fussy tulle covered wedding hats, somber hats for somber occasions. Reflections of Anna's life. For those who loved her, it is fitting to remember her as a wearer of many hats. Anna was a caring daughter who came home to the farm each Sunday with some delicious dessert in her basket and returned each Wednesday to help her mother with household tasks. She was the sister her siblings turned to for any number of requests. She is remembered for her loyalty and love and devotion to family. Anna's circle of friends was more a spiral stretching from the old neighborhood in Pembroke Center and reaching into the kitchen at the tea room at Kaufmans Department Store. It was this dedicated group who gave Anna strength and joy and comfort in her later years. She was the best of friends. Whether it was a crossword puzzle, a sewing, cooking or decorating project, a social issue or a good ball game, we'll remember her for her enthusiasm. This quote from an unknown source was penciled in the margin of her address book: Do it just for the pure , unadulterated hell of it. Words to live by.
We'll miss you, Annie.
